 A Rare And Unusual 17th Century Continental High Comb Morion Burgonet In The Form Of A German Sturmhalbe Circa 1620. 

The skull of two piece construction with 3 and 1/3 inch high comb with roped rim. The comb showing exfoliation and period repairs with contemporary pins. The rounded skull with beautifully smoothed marks from the armorer’s hammer. The two piece brim coming to an extreme point 3 and 3/4 inches from the skull attached with six rivets. The brin with finely roped border and fluted panels.

Original earflaps with fluted design ensuite with the brim and with roped borders. The neck guard fluted ensuite with the brim and with folded roped border.

The interior showing 400 years of untouched patination the exterior mostly bright. Weight is 3 pounds 15 ounces.

This is a strikingly attractive early 17th century helmet and appears all original including earflaps (rare!).
