A Very Good American Revolutionary War Period French Model 1763 Brass Mounted Flintlock Cavalry Pistol Circa 1781.
9 inch steel barrel. .70 caliber. The barrel polished bright with minor pitting towards muzzle. Engraved at breech “Ml 1763”. Bolted military lock engraved “Manufacture Royal de St. Etienne” (markings worn). Full brass military mounts.
Walnut full stock in good condition with old coat of vanish but no visible defects. This example still retains its steel ramrod with worm. All lock parts appear original and the action is crisp on both full and half cock. The bore is good.
The Model 1763 is the most attractive of Revolutionary War martial pistols and fortunate was the Continental Army soldier who was issued one following King Louis XVI’s support of the Continental government.
