A Good And Scarce U.S. Simeon North Model 1819 In Original Flintlock Configuration.
10 inch round barrel. 54 caliber. 20,400 made from 1819-1823.
One of the more elegant U.S. issued flintlock martial pistols surpassed only by the 1805 Harper’s Ferry pistols. Most of the 1819 models were converted to percussion and reconverted to flint. This 1819 is on original flintlock configuration.
Steel surfaces have been professionally cleaned and not rusted or pitted as the pistol was in fine condition to begin with. S. NORTH MIDL TN CONN lock markings are deep and well struck as is the spread winged American eagle. Strong date 1821. The barrel with strong “US” stamp and “P”. Official U.S. military condemned stamp.
Walnut stock is full dimension and exhibits crisp lock contours, no splits or cracks. Added finish obscures inspector’s cartouche. Action is smooth on half and full cock. All lock parts are original. The bore is good.
This is a far above average example of the Model 1819 and hard to find in original flintlock configuration.
