A Very Fine Shin Shinto Mu Mei Japanese Samurai Sword Katana.
We Attribute The Maker As Masanori. 27 and 1/2 inch cutting edge. Ko-midare hamon of nie and nioi with ashi. Muji hada. The fine blade with well cut hi extending into the boshi. Ubu mu mei nakago with clipped jiri and one mekugi, and high quality silver wrapped copper habaki.
Excellent full sashikomi polish with the togi master’s polishing lines under the habaki. Masanori was a student of Yokoyama Sukekane. The blade of narrow configuration likely made to fit into a D-guard Russo-Japanese style mount. Masanori is well known for such blades.
A lovely and most attractive long samurai sword and comes in a good shirasaya.
