A Fine And Rare American Cased Set Of Percussion Derringer Style Pocket Pistols By Famed Philadelphia Gunmaker Edward K. Tryon (1836-1864) Circa 1850.

5 inch round barrels with top flat. 44 caliber. The barrels retaining 85% of their original fading brown finish, stamped “PHILAD^A (sic)”, German silver fore-sight and band at breech. Beautifully floral scroll engraved bolted back action locks stamped “TRYON” with faded hardening color. Hammers engraved with floral scrolls ensuite with the lock plates.

Engraved steel trigger guards with classic Henry Deringer pineapple finials. German silver fore-end cap, wedge escutcheons, and vacant silver nameplate. Fine walnut half stocks with fine checkering at butt. German silver tipped ramrods. Unusually these pistols are rifled all the way to the breech rather than scratch rifled at the muzzle.

All American cased sets of percussion pistols are scarce and desirable. This fine set has a full complement of accessories including bullet mold, cap box, mallet, nipple wrench, ramrod with jag, screwdriver, and a really fine cylindrical copper body powder flask with gilded spout (some wear) and niter blued spring.

Lovely walnut case is lined in attractive brown cloth in excellent condition. Vacant brass shield escutcheon in lid. Rifled pistols are 9 inches overall. This is a really wonderful set of mid 19th century Philadelphia style derringer/pocket pistols altogether in fine to very fine condition throughout.
