An Extremely Fine Persian Qajar Dynasty Fighting Axe With Watered Blade On Its Original Fluted Iron Haft With Long 17 and 3/8th Inch Concealed Dagger Of Superb Quality Early 19th Century.

The head of watered steel framed in a panel surrounded by fine gold Damascened blossoms and tendrils. The rear finely chiseled on left side with two birds, one winged amid two large blossoms. The right finely chiseled with two birds above a well rendered stag all amid leaves and vines. The head is 6 inches long and 3 and 1/2 inches wide at the edge. The hammer chiseled with intertwined birds (worn from period use).

The haft of very fine quality banded and fluted with faint traces of original gilding at top section and Damascened in silver throughout its length on the flats (worn). The concealed dagger is twisted at the base and definitely made to be used. The gold Damascene on the head is in excellent condition and the chiseling is superb with great definition.

This is a very fine almost museum quality Islamic axe and not to be confused with the usual Grand Tour piece. 23 and 1/2 inches overall.
