A Very Finely Mounted Japanese Samurai Sword Wakizashi With Excellent Signed Hamano School Fuchi, Kashira, And Kurikata All Ensuite The Blade Koto The Mounts Early 1800’s.
15 and 1/8th inch shobu tsukuri blade with wide regular midare hamon and itame hada. The blade in almost full bright polish with a few minor areas of shintetsu. Ubu, mu mei nakago with one mekugi-ana. Cat scratched gilt copper habaki. Circular iron Choshu School tsuba decorated in lustrous best black shakudo with a scholar details picked out in bright gold against a chiseled landscape.
Fine and genuine signed fuchi kashira depicting a fierce bearded warrior in dark shibuichi with copper and gold details. Kojiri ensuite decorated with a samurai warrior holding his katana aloft. Very fine signed Hamano kozuka of brown shibuichi decorated in relief with a nobleman seated at a table guarded by a terrifying warrior holding a Chinese style pole arm with extensive gold details the blade issuing from a copper dragon’s mouth. Fine shakudo menuki in the form of fierce samurai with gold details of excellent quality.
This compelling set of mounts and blade is contained in its beautiful ribbed same saya. The saya in pristine condition with no visible damage and lovely hand worn patina. A really great ensemble of fine signed soft metal mounts.
