Savage Revolving Fire-Arms Co. Navy Model Revolver.

Made circa 1861-mid 1860's, only about 20,000 made. .36 Caliber, 7 1/8" octagonal barrel, 14 1/4" overall length. Gray-brown patina with scattered pitting, the heaviest on the hammer. Markings on topstrap are half visible. Action functions, cylinder does not lock up.  The bore is decent with some frosting, strong rifling and some minor pits near the muzzle. Loading lever a period "frontier gunsmith" replacement. Wood grips are working life replacements and show losses on the edges.

Purchased under contract by the Army and Navy, the Savage Navy Model is one of the most visually and mechanically unique revolvers used during the Civil War.
