An Unusual And Rare Early 17th Century German Ring Hilt Estoc Or Tuck Sword Circa 1610.

36 and 1/2 inch stout, piercing diamond shaped blade with short triple fullers on each side the longest is 7 inches. Within the central fuller is stamped “ME FECIT SOLINGEN” on the one side and “Solingen Gloria” on the reverse. Stamped at the forte is a maker’s mark of a unicorn on both flats. Beautiful ring guard engraved with hearts and spatulate quillions engraved with hearts pierced by two swords. Dished steel thumb rest.

Wood grip bound with steel wire heightened with relief twisted steel wire for grip surmounted by two fine “Turk’s Heads”. Shield shape pommel engraved with crucifixion scene. Overall good early 17th century condition.

This rarity is 43 inches overall with fine balance. Sword appears homogenous and has not been dismounted. A tight and right estoc.
