The gilt bronze hilt with long spatulate quillions cast and pierced in relief with leafy foliage. The gilt langets are heart shaped and affixed with a leafy shield. The grip area is reeded. The pommel is a scaly dragon with fearsome teeth cast and chased in the round.

The browned steel scabbard with gilt bronze mounts, the middle mount in high relief featuring a crowned deity, possibly Zeus. The chape of French form reminiscent of Napoleonic glaives. Blade is bright with some old staining. Hilt retains 75% bright gilding. Scabbard with much original brown finish. Mounts with 70% bright gilding except for chape which has only 5% gilding remaining from wear.
