A Nearly Pristine 1884 Mint Springfield Trapdoor Rifle With Original Transitional 1873 Dated Breechblock And SWP Inspectors Cartouche Dated 1886.
32 inch barrel. 45-70 caliber. Barrel retains nearly 100% original bluing. Breechblock with bright casehardening. Barrel bands retain all their glossy blue as does the triggerguard. Only the buttplate lost most bluing.
Walnut stock is excellent with fine cartouche and expected storage dents from crates. Lockplate and hammer with all the bluing. Fine original ramrod. Bore is mint unfired. A wonderful example of the United States Army’s issue arm for more than a quarter century and a bargain at the price.
These are 2500+ at gun shows and might have health issues this one does not.
