A Very Good Civil War Model 1858 Remington Percussion Revolver Serial Number 60962.

8 inch octagonal barrel. .44 caliber. This is a fine example with government inspectors stamp “W” on barrel. Barrel condition is smooth gray metal with string traces of original bluing under rammer and protected areas but shows no appreciable wear and no corrosion. The frame retains 45% original blue finish. Cylinder with “W” inspector’s stamp is very crisp with no finish. Lever with no casehardening but no wear. Hammer is bright.

Grips fit perfectly with overcoat of varnish and no inspector’s marks. Hammer is bright. Action is as crisp and strong as a new revolver. The bore is excellent.

This is a tight and right example of the best Union Army issue revolver of the entire Civil War. Good 1858’s are increasing in value while becoming scarce. A nearly mint, issued 1858 recently sold for $60,000 plus the buyer’s premium.
