An Extraordinary And Fine Spanish Migulet Holster Pistol Circa 1690 Signed On The Barrel In A Sunken Cartouche “COMA” And On The Saddle Of The Frizzen “Igualada” (in the province of Barcelona).
12 and 3/4 inch round barrel with central flat along its full length and two raised panels on either side of the breech. .60 caliber smoothbore. Sculptured migulet patilla lock finely engraved on hamer and frizzen clasp. Steel triggerguard fluted, chiseled, and engraved. A wonderful large pierced and engraved steel panel of scrolling foliage and leaves in the Brescian and Spanish style. Finely pierced and engraved openwork steel sideplate of fine quality. Beautiful pierced and engraved vacant steel thumbpiece depicting a shield surmounted by a crown. Engraved steel spurred buttcap with engraved straps.
Single turned ramrod thimble and steel fore-end. Finely figured and molded fullstock in excellent condition retaining what appears to be original varnish. Barrel is fine with no pitting.Bore is fine. Steel mounts are fine throughout. Replaced ramrod fits well. Action works perfectly. 19 and 1/2 inches overall.
This is a beautiful and early Spanish migulet pistol by a very well regarded Spanish maker (Stockel New Edition, page 233 figure 189).
