A Rare And Desirable Chinese Broadsword Yanmaodao Original Circa 1750 Or Earlier.
28 inch heavy blade with two long fullers. 2 and 1/8th inches wide at point and 1 and 3/4 inches wide at fort. The blade is finely forged. Circular disk guard of characteristic shape. Barrel shape wood grip. Iron mounts. Blade tang secured in pommel like a European broadsword.
This is a genuine and serious antique Chinese fighting sword of classic design and may even be late Ming Dynasty in age. Blade is patinated but shows forging delamination and may be pattern welded. Wood grip is good. Pommel shows age and sword has not been dismounted. 32 and 1/2 aches overall. Weight 2 pounds.
Please do not confuse this genuine antique fighting sword with late Qing Dynasty or Boxer Rebellion examples. This is the genuine article.
