A Scarce Belgian Pinfire Revolving Rifle Serial Number 1889 Circa 1855.
25 and 5/8th inch rifled octagonal barrel. 11 millimeter/44 caliber. Barrel in crisp condition with much original thinning brown finish and classic pinfire front and rear sights. Deeply rifled bore in fine condition. 6 shot round pinfire cylinder with Liege proof in crisp condition with much thinning brown finish. Hammer of LeFaucheux form.
Elaborate scroll iron triggergard. Figured walnut buttstock with nearly all its varnish and little wear throughout. Steel unadorned buttplate. Revolving rifle with sling swivels. Barrel with under-rib at muzzle for bayonet (?). Both single and double action are crisp.
Revolving rifles of this type were often privately purchased by Union and Confederate officers during the Civil War as many thousands of 11 millimeter LeFaucheux pinfire revolvers were bought by the United States. This is a fine example in far better than commonly encountered condition. A must for the collector of revolving rifles or pinfire aficionado.
