A Fine Civil War Era Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver With Desirable 6 and 1/2 Inch Barrel Serial Number 11582 For The Beginning Of 1863.
6 and 1/2 inch barrel. .36 caliber 5 shot cylinder.
Barrel with crisp New York address retains much blue finish. Fluted cylinder with clear patent date and 50% blue. Frame with “COLT’S PATENT” stamp with faded gray casehardening. Walnut grip with most original varnish and one significant dent on left side. Backstrap and triggerguard with traces of silver.
All matching numbers including wedge and cylinder, Bore is fine and action is crisp and exceptionally tight. The Colt 1862 is a fairly scarce revolver as many were converted to cartridge. This ’62 with the desirable long barrel would make a fine addition to any collection.
