Good And Desirable Original German Town Guard Comb Morion Circa 1600

Two piece skull with polished roped comb. The skull with embossed large “fleur de lis” in polished steel. The remainder in traditional black. “Pie crust" borders. Sharp peaks. Ten brass lining rosettes (two absent). The interior rough from the armourer’s hammer. Overall condition is very good.

Morion of this well known form are essential to any collection of 16th and 17th century arms and armour. Copies abound but here is an original over four centuries old and featured in museums and ancestral castles throughout Germany.
