A Fine English Silver-hilted Smallsword Circa 1750.
The heavy, quality early blade with medium to heavy staining in the last one third of its length. The blade length is about 34 inches and the overall length is 40 ½ inches.
It has a pure silver pommel adorned with a lion and an eagle on opposite sides. The guard is pierced with beautifully worked silver, with dragons and trophies of arms. The guard is slightly loose.
The knuckle bow has numerous unresearched English silver hallmarks. The grip has alternated twisted silver wire and silver ribbons.
This is a very nice quality rich man's sword.
