A Very Fine Handmade WWII Japanese Samurai Sword Katana Gendaito By Shigenori Dated Lucky Day 1945.
26 and 7/8th inch cutting edge. Fine choji midare temper in the Bizen tradition. Itame hada. Well rendered kasha yasuri-mei. Shgenori was a most accomplished calligrapher and his chisel work is exemplary. The blade is in nearly full bright polish with all details of temper visible, no flaws, and no chips. Wooden habaki.
This lovely sword is in its original honoki wood shirasaya which has taken on a lovely golden patina. This Shigenori is as good a WWII traditional, hand forged, folded steel, water tempered sword as you are likely to find. More interesting and longer than the usual Nagamitsu oe Emura.
