A Very Impressive Late 17th Century German Zweihander Processional Sword In Fine Original Condition Throughout.

Well forged 49 and 3/4 inch six sided blade with good de-laminaation all along one edge. Blade is 1 and 3/4 inches wide and is in excellent original condition. The forte is wrapped with heavy black leather to protect the hand.

Elaborate down-swept quillions are engraved throughout their length. The double ring guard features well executed “fleurs de lis”, the whole 14 and 3/4 inches across. The 15 and 1/4 inch wood grip is entirely covered in black leather with 5 knobs for improved grip. Large engraved iron pommel of ovoid shape with cut-work. This fine Zweihander weighs 8 and 3/4 pounds and is 67 inches in overall length.

This great Zweihander was in a private Northern California collection for nearly half a century before we were fortunate enough to acquire it. The highlight of any early sword collection and sure to engender more comments that any other type of sword. Overall condition is very fine for a sword of this type and period.
