A Particularly Beautiful Spanish Miquelet Belt Pistol Circa 1800 In Spectacular Condition.
6 and 1/2 inch classic half octagonal to round “Spanish” form barrel with “wedding ring” muzzle. .65 caliber. The breech inlaid with gold punzone, fleur de lis, a cross all in gold. Lovely silver inlay in the form of spray of scrolls emanating from a central diamond. The breech tang lightly engraved.
The patilia lock with light scroll engraving and brilliantly original polished mainspring. Triggerguard in brilliant blue with sunken gold filled punzone. Bird head steel buttcap lightly engraved. Engraved blued side plate surmounted by a 3 and 1/2 inch polished steel belt hook.
Highly figured varnished walnut fullstock is finely checkmated at wrist. Barrel with 90% bright brown finish. Stock with 90% varnish and few if any marks. Action is crisp. Bore is excellent and shiny. Pistol retains its horn tipped ramrod.
