A Good And Attractive Early 17th Century Austrian Wheel-Lock Pistol Circa 1610.
11 and 5/8th inch round barrel, octagonal at breech with incise engraving at juncture of breech. Convex military style lock plate. Wheel with beautifully pierced, engraved and gilt brass plate featuring an exceptionally well executed double headed Austrian eagle. Original dog and filed dog spring. Steel triggerguard fully engraved with strap work.
Steel buttcap engraved with double headed Austrian eagle. Plain iron thimble and fore-end band. Dark walnut full-stock incise carved with carving heightened by brass nails in the Teutonic manner of the 17th century. Steel surfaces polished clean in the European manner. Lock with all internal mechanism. Bore is good.
Walnut full-stock with some conservation repairs so well done as to require black light to notice. Ramrod is short but fits well. Altogether a most attractive wheel-lock pistol with fine form and a most attractive look.
