A Well Mounted Shinto Japanese Samurai Sword Wakizashi With Blade Signed By Bungo Shigeyuki Circa 1670.
15 and 1/8th inch shinogi tsukuri blade with active choji midare hamon and itame hada. The pattern of the hamon is particularly beautiful with ashi and chikei. Lovely cat scratched gold foil copper habaki.
This fine blade is in full bright polish. Ubu nakago with one mekugi ana and five character Shigeyuki signature. Copper fuchi kashira. Shakudo vegetal menuki with gold details including a gold snail crawling on the leaf. Iron Namban style tsuba. Black tsuka makie. Well fitting ishime lacquer saya.
