A Fine Cased Smith & Wesson #2 Old Army Revolver Serial Number 36469.
6 inch octagonal barrel with top rib. .32 rimfire caliber. These Old Army’s were deservedly popular with both Union Army officer’s and enlisted men during the Civl War and afterwards.
Serial number 36469 is in unusually fine condition with 75% bright original bluing on the barrel and 85% bright bluing on the frame and backstrap. The cylinder exhibits 85%+ bright original bluing with little of the usual brown showing through the finish. Ejector rod with muted graying casehardening and the hammer with some muted casehardening mostly on the spine. Markings, mechanically excellent.
Fitted with a fine period pair of white grips with a chip to the left panel. The bore is good but with old corrosion. This lovely S&W Old Army is cased in a good brass bound French fitted, deluxe walnut case with purple velvet, oil bottle, cleaning rod with brass jag and two closed compartments.
Box is 19th century with space for a box of cartridges (not included) and is in fine condition throughout.
