An Elegantly Court Tachi Mounted Shin Shinto Japanese Samurai Sword Katana Signed Yoshitsugu Circa 1800.
25 and 1/2 inch shinogi tsukuri blade. Midare hamon in nie and nioi. Blade in full bright keisho polish with two minuscule kiri-komi near the habaki. Copper habaki. Large nicely patinated tachi tsuba with katakiri engraving. Tachi tsuka with Tokugawa mon menuki, fine samegawa grip and katakiri engraving ensuite with the fuchi-kashira and tsuba.
Full sentoku wrapped saya with ashi and well executed Tokugawa mon amid the floral tendrils. Condition of the koshirae is overall complete and fine. The nakago is corroded but ubu with one mekugi-ana and the signature is visible.
At 39 and 1/2 inches overall this is a very impressive tachi that would look awesome on a kake and in any samurai sword collection.
