Genuine Original Italian Silver Decorated Rapier, circa 1575

Original blade of 44-inches, with maker's mark on the ricasso.

Silver and brass wire wrapped grip with iron Turks head.  It appears that this rapier has never been taken apart.

There are scattered patches of medium pitting to cleaned blade, and heavy old dense crusty patina to the guard with a small amount of relatively new rust. This rapier would benefit from careful cleaning. The blade has a central fuller. The hilt has never been cleaned.

This rapier measures 52 inches total length and is a very nice, genuine decorated sword.
