A Remarkable Rare Mid-17th Century Saber With “Walloon” Style Hilt And Very Long Blade In Good All Original Condition.
The 30 and 3/8th inch curved saber blade with long single fuller is 1 and 3/8th’s inches wide at forte. The blade is razor sharp and finely forged with visible delimitation line reminiscent of a Japanese samurai sword blade. The “Walloon” style hilt has two finely pierced panels and characteristic bulbous ball decoration. Extremely fine wood grip encased in spirally fluted twisted copper wire. Globose pommel.
This is an homogenous sword that has never been dismounted. Very unusual with a long saber blade. Thumb ring makes this a very practical and deadly fighting sword. Sure to please the collector of 17th century European fighting swords. 36 and 1/2 inches overall.
