Rare Lion Head Pommel British Pre-Revolutionary War Period Officer’s Sword In Scabbard

25 inch broad blade with one wide single and one narrow fuller. Cabalistic symbols engraved on both sides of blade. Very finely wrought half basket hilt with filed surfaces on branches, Wood grip missing leather but retaining single strand twisted wire wrap. Well executed and detailed lion head pommel.

Remarkably this sword retains its original black leather scabbard with its original gilt brass shape and locket. Leather in fine condition for age and locket with some original gilding. Chape with some gilding. The blade is stained and has some pitting and edge losses at tip. Hilt is in good condition and wood grip is sound.

Very difficult to find there Revolutionary period or earlier British officer’s swords with their scabbards. 33 and 1/2 inches overall in scabbard.
