An Impressive Pair Of Massive Brass Boxlock Flintlock Carriage Pistols Converted To Percussion With Side Mounted Snap Bayonets By The Renowned Maker H.W. Mortimer Gunmaker To His Majesty King George III (Harvey Walklate Mortimer 1753-1819) Circa 1800.

7 inch round barrels. 54 caliber. Barrels with the usual London gunmaker’s proofs. 5 inch fluted triangular bayonets. The right side of the frames engraved with trophy of arms and in a reserve “Gunmaker to His Majesty”. The left side of the frames with scrolls and “H.W. Mortimer London”. Folding triggers. Percussion hammers.

Large figured walnut slabstyle butts with swell at base. Unusual highly serviceable heavy brass ramrods appear to be period original to the pistols. Condition with light wear to brass and engraving. Snap bayonets flick out smartly. Actions are good and triggers flip out properly, 18 inches overall with bayonets extended.
