A Good Nathan Starr 1818 Contract Cavalry Saber.
Roughly 10,600 sabers were made by Starr for this contract and were delivered between 1820 and 1822. The fullered 32" blade has no chips and some scattered staining. Well marked on the ricasso. The hilt is tight.
Most of the leather grip wrap has deteriorated leaving the wood handle visible. The original iron scabbard has both suspension rings and shows a mix of the japanned black finish and a dark patina. Only expected minor dings.
Overall length in scabbard 38". A nice untouched example of this Federal Period saber.
