A Fine And Rare Saxon Left Hand Dagger Circa 1610.

With bright, sharply tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond section with central fuller over each side of the forte, struck with a mark on the left flat near the ricasso. The blued iron hilt comprised of strongly arched flat quillions in the classic Saxon manner with spatulate “fish-tail” ends each with central flute between between incised lines.

Large side ring filled with a plate pierced with linked circles. Compressed fig-shaped pommel of octagonal section with button pommel/ Woodem grip bound with one twisted steel wire between Turk’s heads.

The blade polished bright in the manner of European museums. The hilt in fine condition as is the grip. This is one of the most identifiable and sought after early 17th century daggers and would be a prize acquisition for any collector.
