A Good And Attractive Neopolitan Roman Lock Holster Pistol By Barbuti (Giacomo Barbuti 1760-1780 Naples) Circa 1770.
9 and 1/2 inch round barrel. .52 caliber. The barrel with turnings at breech. The a la moda Roman lock with sharply pointed tail and classic Italian shape signed “BARBUTI” otherwise undecorated.
All brass engraved furniture including pierced side plate, thumb piece, triggerguard and ramrod pipes. Engraved spurred brass buttcap with steel “skullcrusher” finial. Highly figured mold walnut fullstock. Brass tipped ramrod an excellent replacement. Condition of steel surfaces shows cleaning but good overall.
Barrel with strong traces of signature “GIACOMO…” for Giacomo Barbuti. Brass mounts are good and figured stock is fine with few marks and none of the cracks usually found on highly figured Italian stocks. Belthook likely removed during the period.
Overall a very good example of this ignition system necessary for any progress of arms or systems collection. 15 and 1/2 inches overall.
