A Rare And Highly Desirable Fully Silver Decorated Islamic Algerian Long Miquelet Musket Circa 1845.
57 inch long octagonal barrel. 66 caliber smoothbore. British proofs at breech. Raised solid silver rear sight.
Classic Algerian ‘toe-lock’ miquelet lock entirely inlaid with raised silver scrolls. The lock plate clad in silver (darkened). Hammer and frizzen inlaid with silver scrolls ensuite. The dark hardwood 3/4 stock (characteristic of Algerian guns) inlaid throughout its length with large silver plaques pierced with design of flowers and scrolling foliage. The buttplate with overlay of silver. Five large silver capucines well pierced ensuite with stock plaques adorn this splendid musket.
Lock not tested for function. Bore is fine. These muskets may be seen in the magnificent portraits of Islamic palace guards by French and Continental artists.
A full 6 feet long this masterful silver decorated musket will satisfy the most discriminating collector of Islamic firearms.
