US Model 1833 Dragoon Saber.
The heavy quill-backed blade has been polished removing most of the US dragoon (mounted infantry) and Ames script sword maker markings. There is faint "United" script remaining from the United States marking.
It has a brass hilt with inspector's stamp JM at the base of the blade and on the guard. The brass guard maintains much of its aged patina and some spotting verdigris. The twisted wire-bound leather grip is essentially intact with a few missing flake areas. The scabbard is a pleasant dark russet color with numerous moderate dents and inspector's marks on the drag.
This is essentially an intact sword with no wobble in the grip.
