A Far Better Than Average Civil War Period Savage Revolving Fire-Arms Co, Navy Model Percussion Revolver Circa 1863.
7 and 1/2 inch octagonal barrel. .36 caliber. A really good civilian Savage. Most of these are worn, pitted, with no original finish and hacked up, ill fitting grips. Condition of the barrel is fine with 50% thinning blue mixing with brown and showing little wear with excellent high pin front sight.
The loading lever lug displays 65% mostly bright blue. The lever with casehardening faded to gray. The blue has flakes off the frame but is crisp as new. The hammer has some bright color hardening. Triggerguard and ring lever with no finish but again very crisp.
The walnut grips rate fine or better with much original varnish and fit perfectly. The cylinder with some faded blue and no pitting. All screws have crisp slots. The action is tight as it was more than 160 years ago.
The bore is excellent. As good a Savage as you are likely to find under $4000.
