A Very Good And Rare Early 17th Century German Military Sear Matchlock Musket With Engraved Lock Struck At Tail With Maker’s Mark Of Two Crossed Falchions Over “HK”. 

42 inch round barrel. 75 caliber. The barrel in excellent original German arsenal condition with decorative turnings. Swiveling pan cover with line engraving. Fine engraved flat lock with cabalistic marks and maker’s stamp. Full length walnut stock with ultra desirable “fishtail” butt, iron buttplate, Sear bar with steel stop (possible replaced). Stock in very fine arsenal condition. Steel tipped ramrod.

Muskets of this rare type were used by European militaries from 1600 through 1670 and muskets of this “fishtail” form were used in Colonial America. 56 inches overall. A must for any type collector, colonial collector, or military collector. Especially desirable with identifiable lock maker’s mark.
