A Splendid Silver Encrusted Work Of Art Italian Rapier Of “Pillow” Sword Type With Blade By The Justly Renowned Antonio Pincinino Circa 1625.
Beautiful 34 and 3/8th inch double edged rapier blade with Long fuller signed in full “Antonio Pincnino” on one side within the fuller and “Antonio” within the other. The hilt with short bulbous quillions encrusted with relief silver pellets and a silver winged angel. Elaborate spiral wood grip bound with twisted three strand steel wire. Ovoid form steel pommel is entirely encrusted with silver pellets and a silver winger angel (slightly rubbed from carry).
Overall condition is very fine with lovely centuries old patination and rapier appears to have never been dismounted. This lovely almost 4 century old rapier is essentially untouched, homogenous with all decoration ensuite. 40 inches overall and of museum quality.
Will enhance any collection of 17th century European swords. A rapier for the true connoisseur of decorated rapiers. One which we are proud to offer to our clients.
