An Extremely Fine And Rare Daimyo's Heavy Bronze Barrel Japanese Snap Matchlock.
The Barrel Entirely Inlaid Throughout Its Length With Gold And Silver Comprising A Tokugawa Mon, Dragon, Date 1732, And Further Calligraphy.
Barrel length 7 and 3/8th inches. 60 caliber. The barrel with cannon muzzle Damascened with silver in a Chinese key fret pattern. The front sight gilded. The rear sight of characteristic Japanese form gilded and silvered ensuite with the front. The gold and silver inlay of exceptional quality and in pristine condition. The pan silvered. The Lock of brass. All small parts including fence, and pan cover are present.
The fine red oak full stock decorated with 5 Tokugawa mon in gold hiramaki-e lacquer. This magnificent matchlock pistol retains its original ramrod. In excellent overall condition with one professional repair to a longitudinal crack on its right side due to the exceptional weight of this pistol.
13 and 5/8th inches overall and fit for display in any arms museum or private collection.
