A Heavy And Well Mounted Japanese Samurai Sword Wakizashi Shinto Circa 1750.

Long 21 and 1/4 inch cutting edge shinogi tsukuri blade with complex midare temper line and nashiji hada. Gilt habaki, Suriage nakago with two holes. Shakudo nanako Soten style tsuba with samurai in relief and gold details. Fine date smooth shakudo fuchi kashira not the usual template made but masterfully crafted with samurai with gold details and finely executed faces with gold highlights. Shakudo and gold samurai menuki of very fine quality.

Black roiro lacquer saya in excellent condition. Beautiful shakudo nanako kozuka depicting three samurai in full armor at the shore of a sea with silver waves. Gilt back and fully signed by Nobuyoshi (?). Blade signed Ujifusa. Condition of blade is in good polish with light spotting but the superb ji nie is clearly visible in the temper throughout. Fittings are very fine throughout. The kozuka is truly a work of a master kodogu maker.

Aside from minor losses to gilt the condition is excellent. Saya lacquer is very fine with minor cracking on seam. If you are looking for a long heavy wakizashi unsigned but of really fine quality with good Soten style fittings and a real knock out kozuka we offer you this opportunity.
