A Finely Mounted Japanese Samurai Sword Wakizashi Signed Jumyo Mino Province Circa 1741 Possibly 4th Of The Ishikiri Line In Shimazu.
17 and 3/4 inch shinogi tsukuri blade with midare hamon and tight itame hada. The blade is virtually flawless with no kizu. Solid silver “cat scratched” habaki. Gold foil seppas. Kinko tsuba with gold inlay of peasant with a scythe. Fuchi of good quality shakudo nanako with gold galloping horse in full stride. Copper menuki. Good same.
Black tsuka makie with black horn kashira likely once part of a daisho. Shakudo nanako kozuka with racing horses. Fine roiro lacquer saya in excellent condition with kurikata and well tied sageo. Suriage nakago with well preserved Jumyo two character signature.
Jumyo blades are traditionally thought to bring the wearer good fortune. The polish on the blade is of the very finest quality and all details of the jigane are revealed in their beauty. This is a most attractive package and is why samurai sword collectors collect these most artistic of all blades.
